Summertime Aid to Homeless (9th, 10th 11th, 12th): Took the initiative to collect donations and pass out iced drinks (gatorade, water, lemonade) to the homeless on the streets during all summer dates with above 100 degrees weather

Annapoorna USA Foundation Chapter Founder(9th, 10th, 11th, 12th): Coordinate donations with local homeless shelter The Gathering Inn to feed 60+ homeless guests and provide seasonal items monthly; assist in planning larger bimonthly events feeding 500+ guests; helped organize mask distributions and vaccination drives during COVID; Organize and host Volunteer Meet & Greet events, lead 'Youth Volunteer' programs, encouraging youth to be involved in the community

Placer Food Bank (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th): I regularly volunteer at the local food bank to create packages to be distributed to those in need. The packages are created by sorting fruits and nonperishable items. I have also assisted as a deliverer, driving needed items to distribution locations.

Sewa Diwali Food Drive (11th, 12th): I was the local coordinator for the annual, nationwide food drive Sewa Diwali. I have managed outreach, collection centers, and distribution to beneficiaries. By partnering with 84 volunteers from 34 organizations in the local area, 8528 lbs of food was collected from the Sacramento area over two months. This was then distributed to various food banks and shelters across the region!

Meaningful Teens Tutor (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th): I have spent my summers hosting online classes for underprivileged children to learn how to read and write in English. These classes were held 2 hours every day. Through Project Lograr, I taught reading and writing to K-2nd graders in Oakland. Through supporting Project Udaan, I tutored underserved young girls in India, using my bilingual fluency in Hindi and English to help give them the education they deserve.
Annapoorna USA Foundation Executive Member (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th): Annapoorna USA Foundation works to serve the local homeless community. I founded a local chapter to feed 60+ homeless monthly. Due to my achievements, I was the first youth to be given an executive position on the board of this organization. Leveraging my design expertise, I created professional resources and outreach material, such as brochures, flyers, and business cards. Additionally, I have worked hard to network and encourage more volunteers to join. With my efforts, the volunteer base at the local chapter alone has grown from 15 to 95+ families.

Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th): HSS organizes weekly sessions through which Indian-American families (geared towards younger children) can stay connected to the culture. Starting the first teenage chapter of this organization, I organized weekly meetings with activities geared toward Indian American youth. I also plan regular community service opportunities, team bonding activities, and festival celebrations. I have now started two other teenage chapters and serve as the Youth Director, the first youth to be included on the executive board. Additionally, I plan events to build community awareness of Indian culture.I have facilitated exhibitions and led over 500 community leaders through exhibitions of Hindu culture. I have organized Indian festival celebrations with local first responders and city officials, and organized ‘Teacher’s Appreciation Events’ where teachers are honored in the traditional Indian way. With events like these, I hope to share a glimpse into Indian culture and allow others to better understand and serve my community.

Roseville Utility Exploration Center (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th): The Roseville Utility Exploration Center is a city funded center hoping to promote ideas of energy and utility conservation. As a volunteer for this center, I welcome guests in and help them with whatever is needed. Assisting in conducting STEAM workshops for kids, I assisted in creating and leading demonstrations of activities to impart science knowledge regarding utility functions to over 400 kids. I have also helped plan and execute large-scale annual events with 1500+ attendees.

Vedanta Society (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th): I often visit a local retreat, the Vedanta Society, and assist in cleaning up their facilities. This retreat has over 8 acres of land, a large monastery, and a library. I assist in cleaning up their garden area and the monastery facilities. I organized the library and led a project to transfer the old, physical blueprints into digital files that could be easily accessed. I often support the resident monks with technical issues, especially as they work to set up online meditation sessions or lectures during COVID. While I often volunteer individually, I also organize volunteering events here and encourage other teenagers to join in, the increased participation making the scope of our work greater.

Eskaton - Senior Living Residency (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th): I frequently hold workshops at Eskaton to entertain the senior residents. I often hold seasonal craft workshops, guiding them through the creation of simple paintings or crafts, like sock bunnies. I also lead activity sessions, like balloon volleyball and yoga/meditation.

‘Design To Lead’ Sacramento Youth Lead, Sewa International (11th, 12th): Sewa International is a 501 (c)(3) humanitarian, nonprofit organization specializing in disaster relief and rehabilitation. Conducts the ‘Design To Lead’ program, led by Stanford Professor Dr. Anurag Mairal, to address society’s challenges.
